The unexpected revival of Berrettini on this tournament!
In physical delicacy and without victory before Wimbledon, we expected nothing from the Italian on this tournament and yet here he is in 1/8th ready to fight!
No break conceded in 3 games for Matteo, his serve is settled and wreaks havoc. His oblique injury seems healed (but wary because he has had relapses already) and his level of play is good. Quite impressive when you see his match in Stuttgart where he takes a spanking and leaves the court in tears. The rage to win is there and he feeds on victories, we find everything that allowed him to have impressive results on grass in previous seasons. His serve hurts so much that he is in very little danger, in the game he is always able to accelerate strongly in the forehand to surprise and totally break and neutralize the rhythm with his backhand slices which he supports well. Changes in speed and rhythm that could annoy Alcaraz, the Spaniard comes out of a great victory against Jarry but the content of the match was not perfect. I find that there is still a lot of impatience and haste in the game of the Spanish who tries a little too much at times. He will obviously have the physical advantage tomorrow but for that he must make the match physical, Berrettini could crack over time and we will be able to judge if his injury is really behind him.
