Get your fingers out Benoit!
Our National Pair displays a good form for the USOP qualifiers, but mistrust. Do not overinterpret a Franco-French 1ᵉʳ round, even more so with a Geoffrey Blancaneaux in search of confidence.
Already a confrontation between Benoit and Hsu. We could hear a few funny phrases like: "Rod'geuuuuuuur Federeeeeeeeeer he sucks next to him!" 😅. Indeed, Hsu left quite an impression on the Frenchman. Like many Asian players, he is small, compact, holds his line and attacks whenever he can. It doesn't move, it's clean. And that's not what Benoit needed in the second qualifying round. He's a very good tough player who turned a corner this year by winning challengers in his Oceania/Asia zone. He qualified for the OA main draw this year. The only downside for him is that the passage on earth and grass (5 games, 5 defeats) may have left some marks on him. In any case, you understood, it's not really the good match up for Benoit.
The Frenchman is very diligent and will have enormous motivation. He even made winning forehands in the 1ᵉʳ round! He arrives with great confidence thanks to his recent results as a challenger on clay, although I don't really understand why he didn't go to the hard court tournaments in Spain to prepare for the American tour.
