We want a show gentlemen!
With Fokina, we are used to seeing shows and games with twists and turns, Paul is not bad in the genre too, it promises!
Two quiet first laps for Fokina, it's not in his habits but we're not going to complain about it. He had two affordable rounds and he handled it very seriously and not too much time on the court. Our Spanish friend will arrive fresh and without having made waves, we haven't heard of him and yet he could have a good shot to play since his part of the draw is open. An ultra impressive Toronto tournament then in Cincinnatti he made a great set against Djoko before having to give up. I love taking him as an underdog in big games, he lives for it and loves going into battle, that's where he's the best I think. Against a Paul in a big atmosphere as always in the USA, the motivation will be maximum for Fokina! Paul shit in the first round against a very good Safiullin, the Russian alternated perfectly between playing his opponent and sending big strikes to surprise. It's really a great victory for Paul who didn't panic and was able to reverse the trend thanks in particular to his last big recent victories. In the head it is good it feels, his last good tournaments obviously have something to do with it, when you hit the world number 1 a few days ago you necessarily arrive with enormous self-confidence. A super interesting meeting with two players in great shape, they're going to have a good one!
