Zizou, president!
We followed Zizou closely in Gstaad during his breakthrough. He gained a little confidence there, but hasn't really continued since. I expect better compared to its capabilities, but I'm a little afraid of its adaptation to hard indoor...
The vice cup past, Dusan Lajovic continues his journey after a very dry defeat against a very relaxed Mensik with the qualification acquired before playing. We remember his excellent Cincinnati in which he notably beat Sinner before having to give up against Fritz (toe injury). He admits to having worked quite a bit on his mental health by hiring a specialist, and he was quite impressive on serve on the American tour, especially on the second ball where his kick took really well. I think he has returned to his pre-injury level but he still lacks consistency. Concretely, I don’t know if we will get the Lajovic bonus. Against wild card Zizou Bergs, her experience should be a great advantage but what about her motivation. It is in any case a first confrontation between the two men, in a first round of ATP 250. With the desire to do well, Zizou could clutch with a sawtooth level, as he did at Gstaad. But he needed a good reference match in the first round against the Brazilian Seyboth to get started...
