He must dream of it at night
And yes, if Lamonf wins his first two rounds guess who he is playing? Carlitooooooooooooo 😍
Since Montpellier where he lost half injured in R1 against Cobolli, Lamonf has continued to progress. Author of a very good run in Doha, losing narrowly in the half against the prodigy Mensik, he repeated it in Indian Wells, notably beating Hurkacz and Norrie, and losing in 3 sets against Ruud. The guy is just solid. It's hell to play for all players, both for its coverage of the field and for the difference in pace that it can put into a match. As long as you were feeling a little down and something crazy happened to you by going to the public, then you're in trouble. In Miami, he has already had "correct" results in the past, notably a quarter in 2016. We feel that he can play well here even if we are always a little afraid physically, with the humidity above all else. What I like is that he will have to be super serious from R1 because Lajovic can be quite a piece. You don't really have the right to have too many weak moments otherwise you'll get screwed. The Serbian is coming off a great tour in the "Golden Swing" (tour at the start of the year on clay in Latin America) and can, as we know, play very well on hard courts as well. Gaël has always beaten him, I think it's a good match up for him because it gives him a little time to organize himself. The Serbian will have to get out of his nature a little and be more aggressive than usual to overcome our future Olympic champion ;).
