Only the 6th career match on grass for Shelton, before last year he had only set foot on grass!

Three defeats for two victories last season, defeats to Musseti, Djere and Eubanks. Not a good start on grass but Shelton is young and above all he learns quickly. With his monstrous serve and his quality of forward play he has all the qualities to succeed on this surface. The more he plays on it, the more he will understand and adapt, the point where he can become better is in traveling. Last year it was heavier, slower, simply less fit. With his recent physical work and the daily work for a year I think he will do much better this time. And for a return to school, he will have to get rid of the Duckworth duck. The Australian moves well on grass, is solid behind his serve and arrives with 3 victories in his hands, not the easiest of draws. So I'm divided, either Shelton will still have difficulty understanding the surface and may be surprised at the end of sets, or he will succeed in using his power and his forward play quickly to take the top definitely.
