Rune reassures
Perfect first round from the Dane who tends to get bogged down by himself in average matches, is that ancient history?
When Rune serves well and doesn't give away too many free points, he plays at a hell of a level. The problem is that he doesn't maintain this level all year long and in general he ends up fighting alone because he wants to do too well. After his first round we can say to ourselves that it's good Rune is launched in his tournament and it will take a top player to take him out. Except that he just beat Kwon and he was almost surprised to have such a clean match, we must not forget that the format is long and we can quickly miss a set. This second round will be tougher and I hope Seyboth doesn't fail because we should see some great tennis! The Brazilian came from behind in the first round against Jubb, he gained momentum in the service and it was a decisive point for the second round. Last week he pissed off Fritz at Eastbourne by serving steel, if that's still the case for this R2 we could see a tie-break or even something else... No more pressure for Seyboth, he passed the first round and came across a big seed, mission accomplished so total relaxation expected. I especially wonder if Rune will put out a full match like in R1 or if he will drop in intensity in one of the sets!
