A Van of freshness?

After an extremely complicated period mentally for VDZ, the Dutchman seems to be getting better, little by little.

A challenger final this week, enough to regain a little confidence but also the happiness of being on the field for VDZ. I found him quite good at Wimbledon before breaking down, we feel that his level is not that bad but that it is really elsewhere that it is difficult. It's not with a few victories that we're going to find the best version of him, but it's better than nothing. This first round is seemingly complicated because playing Stricker in fast conditions is anything but a gift. The Swiss is capable of quite impressive flashes, he can serve very well too. The problem is that physically he is still in the recovery phase, it will only be his sixth match of the season, against Fils it was not bad at all except that he did not hold the shock in all the sets. We feel that he will quickly return to a good level, it remains to be seen when. H2H level is 1/1, I think the altitude benefits Stricker a little more on the other hand it's light, VDZ can also do damage with the weight of his forehand. Not an easy first round!
