Who rated this match?!
Let whoever did this report themselves, it's disgusting 😅!
Simple question: Fritz at 1.50 would you have gone there?
A short course in sports betting for amateurs. The odds for this match reflect an 80/20 percentage chance of victory in favor of Fritz. To hope to win, you have to play with rating errors of at least 10% (to simplify, eh). For what ? Because if the real probability of victory for the German is 50% and not 20%, then if this match were replayed 10,000 times, you would be a winner. It's exactly like flipping a coin and telling you that if it's heads you win €2 and if it's tails you lose €1. You could lose after a few throws, but from a certain number, the odds are that you would become a winner. The only problem here is that with a well made piece, you know the odds of a coin toss. In a tennis match, how to verify that Hanfmann's probability was 50%? Answer in a blog post very soon ;).
Hanfmann is playing well at the moment, we agree. I had the opportunity to see him play against Rublev in Stuttgart and I can tell you that the guy is solid. He does everything well, without excelling either. While Fritz loses matches he shouldn't lose. And in two sets each time! So certainly he comes out of a quarter-final here but he remains a very recent and still crumbly top10. What's more, his performances in grand slams over the past 2 years have very often resulted in poor performance. With Ruud and Tsitsipas, if there is a top10 to go for in the first laps, we will have to count on them 😅.
