Anderson's phoenix
The sudaf never dies. His quality of service allows him to stay in the game, and he has even proven that he can chain. Does it stink for Machac?
Anderson was not physically tested in his 1ᵉʳ game. Cachous on both sides, short lines... There is therefore no doubt about his physical condition for this match, especially since it will not be very hot with rainy conditions. As said in the intro, Anderson proved as soon as he resumed that he could chain matches and play at a certain level. His 3 sets against Thompson is even promising!
As for Machac, the tournament choices he's made recently are a little weird. The guy is going to play in Romania on clay after Wim when he has quite the game to compete on hard court. In terms of player profile, there is a Czech-style backhand, and a game that allows him to do everything pretty well. But his big weakness for me is that he's too nice. It lacks a bit of punch. I think he can be fragile in the face of a lack like Anderson who will constantly grab him by the throat. He comes out of a lot of matches on clay as well, where the US Open side courts are quite abrasive, because they are very used (and therefore it fuses and it takes less rebound). Fortunately, the weather forecast announced a rather cold day for the season, with a little rain. It will slow down the game...
