Sonegoat?
The Italian is gaining strength but Norrie hates to lose, a meeting that promises I tell you!
And yes Sonego is gaining strength, after a good defeat against Medvedev in Dubai the Italian confirmed by taking out Kecmanovic in R1 here. Historically he has never played well in this tournament but the conditions are different this year, the high bounce is great for the Italian, he will be able to send good lift with his forehand and he has a good serving kick too. Norrie loves this tournament, it has a ratio of 14v to 4d, monstrous. Given that the conditions are a little faster this year we can wonder if the Briton will be as comfortable as usual. He arrives in average form, he is not convincing this year and withdrew from Acapulco due to fatigue, strange. We are on an M1000 and the Brit knows how to manage himself, he withdrew from Auckland at the start of the year as a precaution before having a good Australian Open, no hasty conclusions therefore. In terms of match up, it's pretty even in my opinion, Sonego served really well in R1 and can rely on his big forehand, in the short lines he has something to hurt. That being said, let's look at the odds!
