Old fashioned ?
It's funny how we talked about these two guys every day at the beginning of the year and then bam, there's no one left!
For Marcos Giron, it was from Los Cabos, at the end of February. He missed his two Masters 1000s at home by losing in the first round, then clay came as the final blow. But looking at its two previous seasons, nothing new in the end. We have the impression that he hibernates on clay and even grass, to get back in shape on his favorite surface: hard. Because let's be honest, it's not really suited to playing on land. He has a good arm and moves pretty well, but he doesn't adapt his game or his mindset. He has just taken 1 and 3 against Munar... Fortunately for him, the Finn Ruusuvuori is not a big man either. You know him like me, Emil likes it when it hits fast and hard. Not the type to round off his trajectories either! His slowdown in the season is mainly explained by a back injury which was revealed in Doha at the end of February against Khachanov. He is now healed and is coming out of a great battle against Bagnis in Aix. I see him in better shape than the American and better adapted to the surface. His stats aren't huge on dirt but the guy still often comes across very big players I think. Despite their past confrontations, I will therefore position Emil as a slight favorite. Giron's game will suit him (and vice versa), and I think above all that he is much more interested in winning this match where I feel a sort of inevitability on the part of the American on European soil.. Let's look at the odds! 👇
