Hubi in a new quagmire?
Polak once again complicated his task at Roland Garros. Will he finally manage to play his true level for a whole match here?
Sitting not far from his coach, I watched Hubi try to play his tennis against Mochizuki. The Japanese played fair, always making the Pole play one more ball, who missed shots even though they were within reach of a guy at 2/6. But if you play tennis competitively, you know what it's like. There is always a tournament, a team match at home, an opponent, that really makes you lose all your strength. Would Hubert have a problem with Roland Garros? With Grand Slams in general? In any case the stats show that the world No. 8 does not perform in Grand Slams as his ranking might suggest. His first match can only do him good. He was a big favorite at Roland's R1, and he came through. Now, he plays an American who puts much more rhythm and who is not an earthling par excellence. In the current heavy conditions, this is a boon for Hubi. Because even if Nakashima's average level is much better than that of Mochizuki, he worries me much less because of his conquering American game. Hubi will be in his comfort zone and will use Nakashima's power to surprise him. It is the Pole who will in turn be solid from the back. No ? 👇
