VDZ sufficiently restored?
Our lethargic leader has returned to action in Mallorca following a "complicated" injury to his right arm. What should we make of it?
Even when he was at his best physically, we had a lot of doubts about VDZ's consistency, so there 😅. I'm deliberately exaggerating. There were some good things in his match against Basavareddy. And maybe he'll even be able to play without pressure at Wim, which would do him the world of good. He can be and has been very annoying on the surface. He'll probably lack some bearings, but against a guy who has almost none, it could work! Matteao Arnaldi is also coming back from injury. He apparently twisted his ankle a bit, which explains his withdrawals at Queen's and Eastbourne. His only match against Struff was really not good. We felt that the guy was struggling on the surface. He could move really well but that's not the case yet, and in terms of playing patterns, he's a bit lost. In summary, a good, strange match here that might not look like much.
