The right model
Fritz is a good example for Shelton
It's no surprise to see Fritz at the rendezvous in this M1000 on fast hard court, the American is particularly good in this part of the world and on this surface. He's had a good little run in this tournament and continues to impress me with his tactical approach to matches and his seriousness. He's really a good student, the guy works on his matches, he adapts and he continues to rely on his strengths too. I think he's good this week but he always has a little match where it's complicated and he has to get out of it (or lose) in the nick of time. Like against Lehecka for example, he struggles to exist on the return and in the end everything comes down to TBs. It's a possibility tonight given the quality of Shelton's service, the young American was perfect yesterday in his victory against ADM. A performance full of maturity and tactically sound, which is not usually his strong point. He really beat ADM and let him play the game while knocking him out with his serves. A match that gives him a lot of credit but be careful not to take him into account too much because tonight he has a completely different matchup. ADM doesn't really know how to serve while Fritz is one of the best servers in the world, Fritz also knows how to attack and hurt much better. A passive Shelton like yesterday will get rolled over but I don't see a world where he continues with this tactic, it was specific to ADM for me. I'm betting on an aggressive Shelton but more messy as a result and for me Fritz still has an advantage in the matchup with a more stable game and better match management.
