The Return of the Serbian Butcher

Medjedovic is coming back from a minor injury and we are obviously monitoring that closely.

Nothing super serious or long for Medjedovic, he wasn't even super worried after his withdrawal at Wimbledon and indeed here he is back quite quickly, which reassures me personally. I also like the fact that he is used to coming back from injury, he often has little tricks and we see that he is not a player who needs a lot of time to get back to his level. Now he will be able to test himself directly against a good player and a local one at that! Kovacevic had an excellent Los Cabos then he dropped a little in intensity in Washington before having a bad match against Boyer last week in Toronto. Everything is a little less good in his last performances, his serve in particular has been a little tricky lately. I don't really like the conditions in Cincinnati for him either, he's not very fast and the bounce is low, we'll have to make and create some play against a Medjedovic who is comfortable in a sanding role. The Serb is also powerful enough to make a difference even on a hard court like this, and I'm not even talking about his service quality. They've played each other twice, and the Serb is leading 2-0 in close, hard-fought matches. Even if Kovacevic's results make you want to play him against Medjedovic, who's back from injury, well, I don't think that's a good idea.
