Felix Felix Felix..
Super disappointing in Toronto last week, can we expect a revival?
Felix lost early in Toronto but there are a few things that soften the blow a bit I think.. First of all the conditions were horrible with a lot of wind, then he played against Marozsan who is really not easy to beat. There is also the fact that playing at home is not great for him given the pressure he puts on himself. So the damage is done and now he has to bounce back or sink. Historically he is not bad in Cincinnati, not surprising given the conditions! On the other hand he will have a big test early on especially if Etcheverry plays like he did at the end of the match against Shang. The Argentinian had his back to the wall, led 5/2 double break in the second set and he started to play with steel. Incisive on serve, powerful and enterprising from the baseline, I saw great Etcheverry again and mentally the guy is not moving. A solid opponent to come and put pressure on FAA but I still stick to my initial idea which is that the Canadian's game is not bad against Etcheverry. With his serve and his quality of shot he is supposed to be more impactful and efficient on hard but well here I am still on a huge impression of the Argentinian for his first round and that changes a lot of things. If he serves as well he can hold a lot of service games and take this match into tie-breaks for example! This is the scenario that stands out the most.
