Slim hopes for Arthur?

Despite his confidence and his level rising as the tournament progresses, I fear that the matchup here won't be very favorable to the Frenchman. Let's dig a little deeper...

It's no secret that Arthur needs to be in control of the point, especially with his forehand, for his game to be as effective as possible. He's not the type to run to the four corners of the court. His goal is to take or regain control as soon as he can thanks to his power and aggression. He definitely shouldn't have let Casper show him America with his devastating forehand. And not only did he manage to win this turf battle, but he did it brilliantly. The confidence he's built up lately allowed him to play a huge final set with some very high-flying points. A good omen for the US Open. As for Félix, things are improving. I find it encouraging that he beat a player like Etcheverry, especially with a tiebreak and quite a few break points saved. The Argentinian isn't in the best form of his life, but a little choke from Félix would have been anything but a surprise. There are still quite a few big mistakes, however, but the Canadian could well be in the process of sorting himself out. That being said, I can now return to my match-up story (which we rate MU in our comments). Félix is a guy who moves well and is always looking to attack and make his opponents move. If he plays well, for me, he is the perfect profile to annoy Arthur. He moves you constantly with intensity, without leaving you much room to turn the tables. When he has you in his web, it's difficult to escape. Arthur will therefore have to rely on his quality of service and his "clutch" side, as long as his confidence brings him and which would allow him to pick up important points here and there, such as saving break points or taking advantage of one or two gross unforced errors from Félix in a service game to break him. For me, this is a pretty clear description of what can happen in the match. It's up to us to favor one scenario over another and make a good betting choice...
