Carreno has a crazy history in Winston-Salem!

Already a title winner here, Carreno even made it to the semi-finals in 2024 after qualifying. There's no denying it's a unique venue for him, and for that reason alone, you shouldn't be too down-to-earth in this match. The Spaniard isn't in great form, he can't really get going. I see him playing decent and pretty good matches sometimes, but it's not working out at the moment. The little turning point can definitely happen in a tournament like this, with a bounce that's not super high and a decent pace, it's good for him, and I understand why he's performing well here in general. Then he has a big opening match against the Japanese Nishioka. Although he's not in great form either, I'm always wary of him in this part of the year. He's already made some big plays and can come back unexpectedly, but it's true that at the moment he's not looking good. I prefer him with a high bounce which is not the case and I'm not sure that playing in high heat/humidity is the best for him, if it's really extreme and there's a big fight he can explode in the head especially. In terms of matchup, first real confrontation, it's going to be a hard battle from the back and I don't see a particular advantage to one more than the other
