Big impression!
Kym was not the favorite to get out of qualifying and he rolled over all his opponents
Kym plays a lot on clay but he's a player who can perform on a fast surface with his profile. He's 1m98, serves really well and develops an aggressive and enterprising game. It's a surprise to see him come out of the qualifiers since he hasn't even prepared for this tournament, he was still playing on European clay before coming to the qualifiers but it didn't bother him. 84% of points won behind his first serve, just enormous. He meets Quinn for this first round which is quite open in the end, and I think it could become a close match since Quinn is also particularly good at serving. The American keeps the surface advantage, he's more experienced and has already played this tournament several times. He's also ahead in his level of play and gives a little more guarantees, he's not yet in the category of players we don't want to lay so yes I can understand that Kym is a little scary and that we're looking to back him. I imagine a close match, Quinn will surely be tense to start at home against a qualifier, Kym has nothing to lose and is playing very well.
