Title defense activated
First successful round for Shang who will have to raise the level again and limit variations in concentration
We had some doubts about Shang's physique, he is coming back from foot surgery and had shown some signs of discomfort in the last matches. He reassured physically but also tennis-wise during his first round, I liked his performance even if he sometimes struggles to stay focused for a whole match, on the other hand I found him quite "serene" and serious throughout the match. The adversity rises a little more in this second round against Nakashima, the American is a real test on the circuit because he does everything well but lacks that little something extra at times. We don't have the two best receivers on the circuit and conversely they serve very well/know how to take care of their serve, which makes me think directly of a fairly closed match and possibly focused on tight ends of sets. In the game I like what Shang can offer, he sets a lot of pace and makes the game, we can count on him to come and move Nakashima. I see a higher max level from Shang but better consistency/stability from Nakashima
