Giron's opportunities in Asia?

Giron enjoyed another win against his countryman, Quinn. Despite the fact that Quinn's bigger weapons are amplified on the faster courts, his lack of experience and defensive skills were quickly exploited by Giron. It was a solid all-around performance from Giron, and he was noticeably excited about his own performance, looking quite happy in the post-match interview and saying that he enjoys playing in Asia (it makes sense, the conditions are great for him). Sonego got off to a difficult start against Juanma, who came in a bit more prepared with a hardcourt title from a Chinese CH already under his belt. As the match progressed, Sonego was able to dictate the match, and his bigger weapons in these fast, non-clay conditions made it difficult for the younger Cerundolo to impact the match toward the end.

Both Sonego and Giron are listed as Solid Baseliners, knowing how to mix offense and defense. Sonego might be slightly more attacking and tends to go to the net a bit more, while Giron is a better mover and more solid defensively. Both players have quite decent serves, with Sonego having a slight advantage... and Giron being a slightly better returner. As you can tell, they are quite "balanced". So, let's look for some other details... I trust Giron more than Sonego to deliver a decent performance in the second round of an ATP 250 in China without a "big crowd". Sonego does have his weeks where he is unplayable (even in 250s, like Winston-Salem last year), so we have to be aware of that as well. They did face off on indoor hardcourt in Metz in 2023, with Sonego winning in a deciding set tiebreak... so if you want, there's a small revenge angle for Giron ;)
