Daniil is hungry

What if Medvedev gave us a great end to the season with his new staff? In any case, his R1 was impressive.

Impressive but against a Basavareddy without any solution to hurt him, the American is not powerful and his drop shots/net drives were too easy for Daniil to read. Change of matchup to come against Wu, the Chinese is much more powerful and is capable of making differences from the baseline! His match against Korda was just monstrous especially from the second set, he disgusted Korda with his accelerations coming from nowhere. I like the profile of the Chinese to hurt Medvedev but given their two confrontations it does not seem to be the case. Medvedev beat him 3/0 in 2022 at the US Open (Daniil bonus) and 6/3 6/2 in Washington this season. The second defeat is a tough one, but we mustn't forget that Wu was coming out of qualifying and had 4 matches under his belt. When you're out of energy and you have to face Medvedev, things can go quickly. I also think that Wu in Hangzhou is a different player, and given how he's playing at the start of the tournament, he's going to be hard to beat. Daniil also started strong, but the matchup was too good today. I'd like to see a bit more of him against a much more dangerous player!
