Shimabubu
The Japanese is not WC, he came out of the qualifiers all by himself like a big boy!
He says he managed to play calmly because usually when he plays in Japan he gets stressed and rushes a bit. This Shimabukuro is not very well known but I saw him several times last year and I liked his game, he is not very tall but imposes a great rhythm with a lot of risk-taking. He also likes to attack on the return, when he catches fire he can become annoying but good to the point of hitting Machac? I would have preferred to see him face another profile than that of the Czech.. Machac is very mobile, even more active in the game and just a better player, he is also defending a semi-final here! On the other hand, he's coming from the Laver Cup so a big trip but he hasn't played there at all, quite strange indeed since they're trying to make a good rotation and there I think back to his US Open where he takes MTO in doubles after his defeat against Fritz, this guy is still injured and we've already seen him abandon in the first rounds, so yeah dangerous. He's scheduled for doubles one day before playing his R1, we'll have pretty reliable information and it's cool to see him play a match before starting his real tournament.
