A Routine Win or Potential Trap?

And it's hard to imagine why that would change, unless they play in Basel and GMP wins in tiebreaks. We see it over and over: Mpetshi Perricard is really struggling on the main tour, except for a few good matches here and there. I don't want to sound harsh, but his base level is really quite poor, mainly due to his returning ability being like ten times worse than Isner's. Yes, sure... his first serve is great, but all it takes is a few looks on his second serves (or DFs) and he is in trouble. Meanwhile, he has many matches where he might as well be a spectator when his opponent is serving. That's what we see from him most of the time. And then there are times when he plays fantastically, like against Fritz in Wimbledon. His entire Basel run last year. To a lesser degree in Winston-Salem this year. Highs and lows... just that the lows are 80% and the highs 20%. Musetti is coming from a disappointing final loss to Tabilo (as a big favorite), and you can tell he is really sad/upset about it, best visualized by not even a small attempt at a smile while holding the trophies together. Not having won a title in a while is really impacting him (and perhaps also his level in finals). A "light version" of Fokina? Now, the big question is how he will react next, more exactly, in his upcoming match against GMP? I trust him not to do a "Botic" and disappear for years (yes, it was injuries as well, I know). Will Musetti's sadness open up a path for Mpetshi, or will he be the unfortunate victim of Musetti's rage and receive a record beatdown? Quite intriguing, isn't it? ;) Lastly, how will the slower conditions here (compared to twice on grass and in USO) affect the match? Initial thought is that it's good for Musetti and bad for Mpetshi. I'm not entirely sure; it can barely get worse for him anyway! Perhaps the slower conditions could open up a path for him towards another breakpoint or two on return!
