Taylor no surprise?
Fritz embraces his status this week and seems destined to join Carlito in the final!
Great battle against Korda today, Fritz had to work hard and although I still don't find him impressive I must admit that his style is formidable. It's clean and serious everywhere, he earned his place in the world top by maximizing his somewhat classic tennis I would say. He is one of those players who can win a lot of matches without being brilliant. Here he is in the semi-finals and he will be the favorite again against a Brooksby who is so clean this week again. When you watch his matches you get the impression that he is in trouble every time, he has to fight to hold his serve, saves a lot of break points, finds himself behind and then you don't really know how he manages to turn matches around. Mentally he never gives up and that is his greatest strength, he also knows how to win "dirty". He is down by a break against Humbert, snatches the tie-break, saves set points against Darderi, is dominated in the early stages of the set against Rune. He is systematically moved but still gets away with it, I already saw him do that in Houston this year where everything seemed to be going in his favor, so I am wary of him. On the other hand, in the game, big advantage to Fritz for me, much cleaner on serve and more tolerant in the game than Brooksby's previous opponents this week.
