Another French player in form
Blanchet is a bit less in the spotlight than Royer, but he's also taken a real step forward
I like what Blanchet is offering, and on top of that he's really starting to find consistency to get out of tournament qualifying; he still has a big step to take to reach the next level but what he is producing is already good. However I prefer him against profiles more prone to outright errors, players he can counter and surprise. That's where I found him good recently and Comesana isn't really in that category, even if he can make quite a few errors in some matches. He's an aggressive Argentine, serves well, can take the net but defends well; when he's in position he's a truly good player except he's not fit. Only one match since the US Open (and lost), no preparation for this Asian swing and that worries me a bit — we've already seen players struggle with the conditions and adaptation can play a role. I also wonder what he can produce in this part of the world; it's new for him and this swing is unusual. Blanchet comes through qualifying, he's playing well right now and the momentum is on his side. To me Comesana is the better player 90% of the time but right now in this tournament I'm not sure.
