From Japan to Japan

Brooksby is arriving from Tokyo to be greeted by a Japanese player...

A solid week for Jenson in Tokyo, making it to the semifinals. A good draw against three players that did not have the patience/ability to figure him out, before he ran into Fritz. I do think the Asian Hardcourt season fits him really well, medium-fast hardcourts with tennis balls that seem to behave normally. Brooksby's matches tend to last quite long due to the slow pace he plays at, but in Tokyo, they were all done in straight sets, so he should be fine from a fatigue perspective. Brooksby can struggle a bit in the opening rounds, needing a bit of time to get settled. Trotter has already settled here, coming through two three-setters against Boyer and Hijikata in the qualifying rounds. I wasn't able to watch the matches, but the stats in his matches look quite good. Trotter has a good serve, and while his returning and one-handed backhand can be a liability, they seemed to have been quite OK so far here. Brooksby will be a big step up in level, but I actually quite like his chances to put up a decent fight here. Being able to generate some free points off the serve will be important, and the one-handed BH could be an x-factor? Brooksby has a very solid BH that wins most duels, so might as well take some risks and go for some OHBH winners...
