Ambitions..
Here’s what remains for Tiafoe during the rest of the season.
The level of play is absent, motivation seems fragile and even his results aren't good. Tiafoe is definitely struggling and he'll have to fight to get out of it. He hasn't given up at the end of the year, far from it! He wants to have an excellent 2026 season and for that he wants to finish strong — he needs to be playing well now; that's very reassuring because he could have just wanted to move on before refocusing. Now you can want it with all your heart but if your tennis doesn't follow... That's mainly what's stopping me from trusting him right now, he'll have to prove there are actions behind his words. And it starts here against Hanfmann. The German came through qualifying and just beat Sonego after a slightly lost first set (but mostly a great performance from Sonego). So he's on a three-match winning streak here and his profile matches up pretty well against Tiafoe. He already serves well and above all he's powerful from the baseline with an interesting forward-moving game — not the ideal matchup for Big Foe. The question is how much weight you give to Tiafoe's statements because apart from that everything makes you want to lay him here.
