Danger Ugo !!!
Humbert isn't winning any matches and it's serious, he needs to start moving forward again
Another loss to Brooksby in his first round last week — you could say the American’s game really grinds him down, and on top of that he’s a good returner, not ideal for Ugo. But he completely fell apart in the second set and that’s really not good. As for the rest, we still don’t know the status of his back injury and I assume he couldn’t train fully for a while; he’s already short physically, and that scares me a lot given the conditions of this tournament. It’s hot, humid, stifling, and if Thompson manages to make this match physical then the likelihood of seeing Ugo blow up mid‑match increases. The matchup itself isn’t ideal for Humbert either — he managed to dominate Thompson last year in Bercy but that was on an indoor hard court perfect for him, and remember he probably played the tournament of his life there. This time things are different, and even though I still see Ugo as the favorite, I’m far from convinced he’ll come out victorious. Thompson isn’t at his best either, but at least he’s stringing matches together and seems to offer a few more guarantees right now, which I’ll gladly take.
