Oh yeah! The Dutchman has also taken a step forward this season. He’s a player you could put in the “always dangerous, and sometimes plays above his level” category. Very mobile, a good counterpuncher, crafty, good serve. On the flip side, he gets a bit sweaty and lacks power. Against Jakub Mensik, what does that look like? We prefer the Czech against one-dimensional attacking players like Quinn, Marozsan, Safiullin… It’s a caricature, but you get the idea. Excellent server and a solid counterpuncher, he’s less impressive when he has to create. And above all, he lost his last match to ADM by retirement (left knee, but yeah, things tend to be breaking down all over with him). He admits he’s played too much this season, and recently with the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup. Jesper De Jong knows what he has to do!
