Amanda just locked in her next stop on Waze
Her GPS has only one destination: the final...
Amanda keeps showing week after week that she’s back to a level close to her best tennis. Her 2025 record on hard is solid (23/31 win rate), and she’s already taken out several top players thanks to the quality of her returns and her ability to speed up on the slightest neutral ball.
In this matchup, the balance of power is clear: she’ll impose her power right from her first shots and prove once again she’s one of the best returners in the world! Her down-the-line backhand does serious damage, and her forehand, when it kicks in, is tough to counter. She’s been finding most of those lines in Beijing—it’s pretty impressive.
Meanwhile, Coco will look for rallies, like Paolini, and can shine with her athleticism and defense… Her serve is still a work in progress, averaging 6.5 double faults per match, and Coco’s seconds will be easy pickings for the American. I do think Coco is playing more relaxed than during the US swing, though.
One small caveat, though: a visible wrap on her thigh and a bit of fatigue after two tough matches. Nothing alarming for now, but worth keeping an eye on if the tournament drags on with those tough Chinese conditions.
Overall, with the H2H in her favor, she looks like a legit title contender, and her road to the final seems more open than ever right now. Pretty much a mini final ahead of schedule.
