A cautious revenge

He’s going to have tests and see what it is, but given how affected he seemed, it could matter in this match. If he loses, it’ll be this excuse or the one about the standardization of surfaces—anyway, our friend always has a good excuse. That’s where Rinderknech might have a chance; he doesn’t hide behind excuses—in fact, I find him arrogant, but sometimes that’s what you need to push yourself and believe. He played another good match against Michelsen today; he’s in form and stringing wins together the right way, the issue is more on the physical side because of the conditions. We’ve already seen him suffer when conditions are extreme—during the American swing he even collapsed on court! Now he’s confirming it’s hard to breathe out there—not great—and on that front Zverev has an advantage; the heat doesn’t bother him at all. So we’ve got a potential injury issue for Zverev and a possible physical issue during the match for Rinder… In terms of play I like what Rinderknech is doing, and like in his match against ADM last week, I think he’s really well set to deliver another strong performance against a top player. He’s already beaten Zverev this season and he’ll believe again!
