Well, it was looking a bit cooked for Fritzou after his final last week, but hey, Gio got it done! Two things to note in this match for Gio: his return quality—less bad than usual. And his resilience from the baseline. I think the conditions are perfect for him. In any case, the combo of slow conditions + fairly high bounce, because as for the heat, he seemed a bit on the limit to me. That’s one of the things that makes me lean toward Rune, though the Dane had a mini blackout at the start of his match against Ugo. Even so, I’m still pretty confident in Rune in this kind of match-up. I like both his returning and his defense. He doesn’t let the false rhythm lull him and he keeps the stamina. And apart from his blackout, I found him very good, and moving well. As for Gio, it’s very good, but this will be a level up for him. And their two past matches confirm my thinking... Let’s see, but I think the odds will be unforgiving...
