And I could have added that they’re from the same generation (2 years apart), and they’ve already played each other 7 times. And while it’s 4–3 to Schoolkate, he’s still won the last 3 meetings. Has he taken the upper hand? No idea! What I do know, though, is that Schoolkate can be a real nightmare when he’s on a good run, whereas I see Walton as more consistent but also more limited. And there’s something very important going into this match, I think: Walton’s form. His tennis is far less impactful than when he was a whisker away from beating Lehecka in Cincinnati. He’s lost some solidity. Meanwhile, Schoolkate just had a respectable Asian swing. From afar, then, I’d lean more toward a Schoolkate win. Yet he’s the underdog, and that’s due, I think, to two things: 1) his lower ranking, 2) his recent indoor results. I think that should weigh a bit less on the odds and we should be looking at, at worst, a coin flip, but not Walton as the favorite with his current confidence...
