Not so different?
These players share a few similarities...
OK, let's start listing some of them. Both players are in quite good form, De Jong is beginning to break into the main tour, and Fucsovics making a "comeback" after getting married (best boost there is?). They are both Solid Baseliners with a well-balanced game, lacking major weaknesses. They are solid from both wings, have a decent first serve, can both play at the net, and tend to be consistent and serious. It's hard to give an advantage to either player from a matchup perspective, as I mentioned before, they are quite similar in their game! Neither player really minds the matchup against another Solid Baseliner. Fucsovics usually tends to try and dictate against this kind of player, using his physicality to gain the upper hand offensively while remaining solid. As for De Jong, he doesn't mind taking on the opposite role of being a bit more defensive; he is quite good at this due to his rally tolerance and speed! That's how I see this match playing out, and a lot of it will come down to who can execute better! Fucsovics did get knocked out of Shanghai five days or so earlier than De Jong; however, I don't think it will be a major factor. De Jong played his last match a week ago in China and should have had enough time to prepare as well...
