First round with strong potential for a high level of play—I’m expecting a lot from this match!

We’ve seen Giron back in China over the last few tournaments! Some really good matches that, in my opinion, show he’s ramping up for the end of the season. Historically he’s finished his seasons well and doesn’t seem like the type who runs out of steam and disappears during this stretch—special mention at this event with a semifinal last year! Conditions suit him: it’s quick and the bounce isn’t very high, he’s a pain to play here. Bellucci’s a bit similar in that he looked sharp in his last two tournaments despite early exits. His level convinced me, and I can also see him having a strong end to the year, especially since he’s already shown he can be very dangerous indoors. Matchup-wise, it feels like a pretty tight, serve-heavy match between two guys who are solid on serve. Giron couldn’t get anything going on return against Tabilo, and Bellucci could steer it that way too since he’s a lefty and serves well. But he’s much less confident than Tabilo, which could give Giron more room across the match overall. In short, I’ve seen good performances from both lately and I don’t give either a clear edge in the conditions either—this one has “big match” written all over it!
