A Decent Chance?

So, it was a pretty decent qualifying run from Mark. Completely dominant against a rather poor Sakamoto and a nice comeback win against Quinn (who is perhaps showing more of his real level now than the level he played earlier this season). Lajal's aggressive game does nicely on indoor hardcourts, and while he is quite streaky, his game becomes dangerous when it's "clicking". Both of his opponents in qualifying were quite suitable for him (attacking players); Lajal likes this kind of matchup; he will struggle a lot more against solid players who have more variety (or Big Servers that are solid). Etcheverry was starting to go on a bit of a run with his Davis Cup and Hangzhou matches, but got a left rib injury at a bad time, forcing him to skip both Tokyo and Shanghai. He went back to Argentina to recover before traveling to Sweden to play here... and it seems his recovery has been going well, at least from what's available on his socials ;) Etcheverry is kind of a "gatekeeper"; similarly to Nakashima, he is quite hard to beat for the "lower level" players. This is also evident in his record against qualifiers, which is great... covering the HCP at around 66% of the time. Playing on indoor hardcourt will favor Lajal, but Etcheverry can play decently on it as well, especially since this one is not overly fast...
