Fighting for a Decent Finish
Misolic is having a bit of a tough time...
Well, he made it through qualifying... but it was not overly convincing. Needing three sets to beat Swedish WC Rejchtman Vinciguerra as a 1.10 favorite and then almost blowing a 5-2 lead in the third against Durasovic (winning the tiebreak). And he won that tiebreak mainly cause of some poor errors from Durasovic. Misolic had a miserable Asian Swing, 0 wins and 3 losses, including getting 6-1'd in a set by Mpetshi Perricard... and losing to washed-up Eubanks! He did go and play an indoor hardcourt challenger in France after that, but lost to Bernet in the first round as a 1.38 favorite. Majchrzak only played Shanghai but had two very good wins against Quinn and Nakashima, in dominant straight sets... before running into ADM, which is a horrible matchup, so nothing bad from that loss really. I've found him really good for a while now, and while his experience and success on indoor hardcourts is actually quite limited, the conditions here should be fine for him. Misolic's current level is not what it was earlier during the clay season when he was playing with a lot of confidence, hitting big forehands and good dropshots. It's also been quite a long season for him, 76 matches played already. It's possible that the tough qualifying run could have "battle-hardened" him a bit, but he'll need to drastically improve his level here...
