The last Belgian hope, or almost.

There's still Bailly left in this tournament, but with Goffin's premature exit and Collignon having beaten Bergs, he's now the headliner.

Un peculiar match yesterday between the two Belgians—there was quite a bit of tension and the level of play fluctuated a lot. They started strong, and Bergs faded before finding a last burst that wasn’t enough. What I’m taking away is that Collignon hit quite a few doubles and had a bit of trouble closing this one out too; otherwise, his overall play was solid. He’s got serious qualities, but that’s no surprise. He was supposed to face another compatriot in the second round, but Goffin got upset by Comesana! The Argentinian served well, stepped forward, and mixed his defensive and offensive play nicely. A good match from him, but wow was Goffin poor… The Belgian served very badly, was tense from start to finish, and was far from his usual standards. Comesana took advantage and pulled off some magical shots—he’s a real showman and he’ll get to have more fun on court in this second round. He’s still a bit green in terms of indoor experience/game, but he’s got enough to do well; I’m wary of him. Collignon remains my favorite for this match—he’s in form and plays particularly well indoors. I loved his attitude yesterday, and I don’t think he’ll slip up like Goffin…
