Toward a bounce-back for the Kazakh indoors?

After his nice title in China, Bublik went full Bublik again by completely tanking his match against Mannarino, then not being fully engaged against Vacherot. Just a blip or a trend? That’s what we need to figure out here.

Bublik is having the best season of his career, largely thanks to a clear improvement in his attitude in recent months, but the flip side is he’s played a ton, with all that entails in terms of physical and mental fatigue. I’m not exactly surprised he’s hit a dip, and I even put a big bet on Mannarino when they played. Now we’re back to indoor events, where he excels and can get away with a bit less effort and lean even more on his serve—right up his alley. I’d tend to recommend caution and wait to see him live, or even see how this first match unfolds, before betting on him again.

On the other side, Tabilo isn’t one of the South Americans least comfortable on fast courts, helped in particular by his very good lefty serve. He’s played well recently and was just on outdoor hard a few days ago in Italy. In my view, the match will really be on the Kazakh’s racquet, but the Chilean has weapons if Bublik doesn’t show up as his best self. The odds?
