His kryptonite!
Nobody beats Alex de Minaur twelve times in a row?
What can you say about this match that hasn’t already been said? Eleven wins in a row, mostly blowouts, and only two sets won by the Australian. Not very encouraging!
Sinner was very good again yesterday against Bublik, especially behind his serve with only 5 points lost and dominance from start to finish. Indoors is really his turf and he plays at a speed no one can match (except one!).
On the other side, ADM took advantage of a tired and therefore very imprecise Berrettini and won quite logically, without producing spectacular tennis but by being very sound tactically, as he does so well.
What reasons for hope are there for the Australian? If there are any, it’s clearly their last meeting a few weeks ago in Beijing, where he honestly played a great match and at times really managed to bother the Italian. I watched the whole match and at the start of the third I thought an upset was possible, but Sinner stepped on the gas at the beginning of the set and that was that. The match-up is pretty awful for ADM, who does everything a bit less well than Sinner; he’ll need a massive performance and all his heart just to hope to trouble the Italian a bit, but apart from him (and even then), it’s hard to find anyone who believes in it this morning.
