Arthur keeping the momentum going?
Since his return from injury in Geneva and then Roland, Arthur has been stringing together tournaments and wins with consistency! How far can he go here?
Back in Paris in good shape for Arthur, whereas he played Bercy pretty burnt out last year despite some good matches. We know he’s a player who can transform in a stadium that will be 300% behind him. And up against the very temperamental Darderi, that’s a big factor. Plus, the Italian isn’t the best returner on tour, and Arthur returns well. We also have a Darderi who took an MTO in his last match for his left knee, but strangely, he actually started playing better afterwards. And as we know, the Italian doesn’t show his best tennis on hard courts, even less so indoors. He serves well and he’s powerful, but he doesn’t come to the net much and needs rhythm. So everything points to a win for the Frenchman here, but it almost feels too easy... Even in a tight match, though, we’ve recently seen Cazaux’s huge ability to hang in and take his chance late in the third set. So yeah...
