Can Zverev sow doubt in one of the big guns again?
Sinner is cruising, but the German is coming off a statement match and has the weapons to extend the fight.
Zverev somewhat upset the odds yesterday with a super clean win over Musetti, who had momentum on his side before the match. 9 aces, 83% first serves, no break points conceded, and a show of strength we hadn’t seen from the German in a while. I found Musetti a bit disappointing, but he really had a great Zverev in front of him.
As for Sinner, a “routine win,” his 12th against De Minaur, with, as has often been the case this week, a few inconsistencies, especially with his forehand. He basically cruised all week, but he didn’t leave me with an exceptional impression—by Jannik Sinner’s standards, of course.
In terms of the match-up, we remember the AO final where Sinner crushed Zverev, but historically it’s a duel that suits the German more, and he still leads 4/3.
Sinner has the same odds today as he did yesterday against ADM, yet the danger seems much greater today, so my idea is rather to look for bets in favor of the German. If Zverev manages to reproduce yesterday’s serving level, I think he really has the tools to at least trouble the Italian, and since the match is very lopsided, there are some interesting cut options.
