Is this the right one this time?

Fokina is still looking for his first title, and once again the opportunity is a great one.

It's such a peculiar match for Fokina. I still remember his three lost finals this year; each time he had chances and even match points, but it didn’t go his way. Naturally, after so many failures and bad luck, it’s going to swirl in his head if he finds himself ahead. He’s already a choker by nature, and here it’s almost obvious to see him collapse if he gets in front—though I absolutely don’t wish that on him! For me, he deserves his title for his season and this week too; he’s really taken a step this season in terms of consistency across matches, and he’s more serious and diligent as well. This week has been good mentally; we keep repeating that he also wants to prove to Ferrer that he deserved to be selected for the Davis Cup—there are almost only positives on his side. As for Fonseca, he’s had a quieter week, let’s say, between WO and retirements. It’s not his fault and every time he was on court he showed good things; he’s already taken a title this season and seems much more of a killer than Foki in that area. I’m not forgetting their previous meeting where Fokina was well on top before collapsing—unfortunately that’s a scenario that could repeat. In the game itself, Fokina makes a better impression; I find him a bit above, but mentally it’s Fonseca who offers more guarantees in such an important match!
