Fritz burned out?

The American looked a bit like he was at the end of his season these past few weeks, but the days off seem to be doing him good. Will they be enough?

And yes, we often talk about physical fatigue at the end of the season, but for most players it’s mostly mental. Having to battle every week of the year, flying twice a week, not sleeping in your own bed, the jet lag... And across the net he’s got a guy who has also played a lot, but less all the same. Bublik manages his schedule differently, and here he is aiming to leave it all out there, make a push for the Masters, and improve his career-high ranking even further. It’s 3-all between the two men, with the last 3 matches won by Fritz. If both players have very high serve quality, for me this match will be decided by how they manage the rallies and the "moneytime." Fritz is a rock from the baseline and will aim to keep Bublik as far back as possible for as long as possible. That’s where Bublik’s whole arsenal comes into play. He can get the better of Fritz if he’s inspired, so as often, the analysis comes down to estimating what level Bublik will play at. And I like him in slow conditions. He proved he was comfortable in Montpellier, notably with ironclad defense. So I don’t think Bublik should be much of an underdog in this match, but I think the books have already adjusted their odds quite well...
