Mr. Average vs Mr. Average

Well, it's the last tournament of the season for both players, and neither of them is at their sharpest at the moment. Kecmanovic managed to push Cerundolo into a third-set tiebreak in Paris; however, as is usually the case, he ended up losing it. Majchrzak blew a match point against Shelton on a volley he will regret, and it seems like that loss is still haunting him a bit. He missed another match point against De Jong in Paris and lost both the tiebreaks to get eliminated in the first round. I would normally give the advantage to Kamil when it comes to being clutch / mentally strong, but with his two recent losses, I am not so sure! They are both Solid Baseliners with fairly similar games. Majchrzak has a slightly better serve and tennis IQ than Kecmanovic, while Miomir has a bit more firepower in his groundstrokes. A small concern for Majchrzak would be that his returning numbers in his last few matches have been really poor, especially in his last match against De Jong. What I like about Kamil is that he has shown some dominant matches, like against Misolic and Royer. For Kecmanovic, I can only think of the match against Muller in Stockholm, but that was against a very bad Muller! There is not a lot to separate them, so in the end, similarly to a lot of opening round matches this week, it will come down to who feels the most comfortable in the conditions and wants it more...
