Oh no, not him..
Gaston is so hard to predict, betting on him is a crapshoot for me but I'll do my best!
Alright, first off, where’s little Gaston? He’s been killing it at indoor Challengers for weeks, and it’s been a nice move points-wise but especially for confidence! A title in Rennes, a title in Brest, a final in Roanne—the guy is on fire, but that’s no surprise, he loves indoor and this part of the season. On the flip side, mixed in with those results he’s also got two first-round losses; basically it’s either a final at minimum or a first-round exit, which is why he’s very hard to bet. His level depends on his motivation; he can tank matches for no apparent reason and I’m very wary of that. He’s played his tournaments, got good results, and now he could go out in the first round and we wouldn’t know why—I’m treading carefully. That said, it’s more likely we see him play a good match: he’s in form and wants to finish the year well; it’s an indoor tournament in France and there are a lot of positives pushing him. Not an amazing track record here, noted. As for Atmane, it’ll be his first appearance; the Frenchman didn’t do badly in Bercy, but he’s still way too tense and unstable in his game. I get the feeling he prefers playing outside France to stay relaxed without putting pressure on himself. Well, this is Metz and it’s not Sinner across the net either, so I’m relatively calm about his ability to handle the match internally; now he’s got to deal with the matchup, and that’s a big issue. Gaston is an excellent defender, strong on the pass, and great at making aggressive players like Atmane blow up. For me, it all depends on Gaston’s desire..
