Djere's Long Comeback

We haven't seen a good Djere since the Golden Swing!

Well, it's safe to say it hasn't been good since the comeback. Just one win against fellow Serb, Lajovic, in a Challenger. Laslo is not playing horribly; he gets to quite a few tiebreaks, but has a hard time winning them. I remember Djere had a similar period a few years back, where he had an outrageously bad tiebreak streak, something like a 0-18 streak! He has signed up for a Challenger to play after ATP Athens, so it seems like he wants to keep trying for the season at least. Spizzirri has had a long and successful season with multiple deep runs in Challengers and some more main tour appearances. Just recently, he reached the QFs in ATP Brussels, which he followed up with a final and a QF in two indoor hardcourt Challengers. Now, he's coming out of the qualifiers with a lot of confidence and motivation. Under normal circumstances, Djere would kind of like this kind of matchup (someone who is not elite and not a huge hitter). However, the complete contrast in form and confidence will make this tough for Djere! I mentioned he has been losing his tiebreaks lately... Spizzirri has done the opposite, with an 8-2 TB record on the indoor hardcourts. However, despite making it through qualifying, he has not been as sharp as we saw him in Brussels. He was also playing with nothing to lose there, since he saved match points in one of the early matches he had, which made him play very free, kind of like a lucky loser...
