End of the Road for Spizzirri?

He has now played 16 matches in 3 weeks~...

Eliot got off to a really slow start against Djere, losing the first set 1-6 and facing 3 match points, down 3-6 in the second set tiebreaker. As I mentioned in the preview for that match, he is playing with great confidence and has been winning the majority of his TBs, whereas it's the complete opposite for Djere... and that saved him today. After "blowing" the second set, Djere completely spiraled and took a 6-2 in the third. As for Borges, the match went pretty much as we expected... a tight first set due to the quality of Sakellaridis' serve and forehand. Borges got a bit better in the second set and managed to win in straight sets, 7-6, 6-3. We know that he is a slow starter, especially when he is a big favorite, so I think it was an alright performance from him, at least he didn't go into a deciding set ;) I think that both players are at around the same level currently on indoor hardcourts, with Spizzirri perhaps having a slight edge due to accumulated confidence, with many matches won in the last weeks. He has been serving really well for a while now; he's a pretty good returner, and he is solid from both wings. Something to note is that his returning numbers have sharply declined in his last two matches (especially compared to his Brussels run). His forehand and serve are also slightly weaker; it wouldn't be crazy to possibly attribute this to potential fatigue, something we have to look out for here. Borges' returning has been poor against Sakellaridis and Tien (it was good against Medvedev before that), and that is something he will need to improve rapidly, given how good Spizzirri has been serving. In the end, the question is... will Spizzirri repeat his performance in Brussels after saving match points in the early rounds once again, or is there not enough left in the tank?
